How to get into Medical School

So you want to be one of those people you always see on TV shows like ER and Grey’s Anatomy that saves lives and always turns out to be the hero at the end of forty-five minutes? Well it turns out that being a doctor really isn’t as simple as these shows make it seem. You have to go through a long tough road to become a doctor and only you can determine if it is the right career for you. So how would you go about it? Read our guide to find out.

The first thing you have to do when attempting to become a doctor is to get into a four year college and get a Bachelor’s degree from said school. Unless it’s an extremely rare case, there’s really no way to get into medical school without having a four year regionally accredited degree. These are known for opening doors in the real world but they can do just the same thing when trying to advance your education to get into your desired career.

You have to maintain really high grades to get into medical school. This is especially hard when science students generally have to take the hardest classes available. Lawyers for example generally only have to take liberal arts classes and then apply their general logic to the LSATs. But pre-med students have to essentially be put through the ringer to even be able to make it through their undergraduate careers intact. Many students will end up dropping out of the pre-med major simply because they will not work hard enough to be able to do well in the classes. There will always be those who make it through the weed out classes and only they can go on to the next step, the MCATs.

This is just a standardized test that medical students have to take to advance to medical school. While not all students have to go through this step, most do and it’s usually the hardest part. But if you can make it through this part, there’s really nothing to do but watch the admissions and scholarships come in your mailbox and then just pick the school best for what you want.
