Clothing Production
Description
All managers must, and all supervisors, mechanics and the like should understand the decisions that are taken with respect to the production systems chosen and how the production is planned and controlled. The type of production system in use strongly influences the ease of balancing, whilst the planning and control of production are closely linked to balancing. This course is concerned with the basic tools of production management, the tools of supervision. It concentrates on the short term problems, like meeting today’s targets. It is structured so that it can form the basis of a supervisors’ or junior managers’ course. Indeed, such courses are often run by production managers and few are qualified trainers, so it is worded almost as it might be delivered, as a series of lectures.
This course covers topics such as:
•The sewing room supervisor
•How output is lost
•Basic method study
•Basic work measurement
•Balancing
•Balancing exercises
•Production systems, planning and control
•Total quality control
•Quality from design to dispatch
•Production and people
•Training
•Charting and layouts
