Army Tuition Assistance – A Brief Summary

The most popular and famous branch of the United States Military is no slouch when it comes to helping out their soldiers with college tuition. Many of their ads are focused on college kids and their package fails to disappoint. But is this branch for you? Do the benefits match up with what you’re seeking? Keep reading to find out.

First off, the most important part: the Army is willing to cover up to 100% of your tuition and fees. If you join the Army, they’ll cover all of it and that’s a pretty good deal. Just go to school and they’ll foot the whole bill. You may have to go on a tour of service after graduating from your chosen school, but whether that is worth it is up to you. Many students have been willing to forgive this kind of commitment in return for not having to go through the woes of paying money and taking out loans when they get to college.

The Army has also introduced a new program to help students enrolled in the Army program to register for tuition assistance. The Army Continuing Education Program has instituted an automated program for its students to ask for tuition assistance and register for the classes necessary for their school. This allows them to only get the benefits needed. For example, if the students only register for a few classes and are part time students, they obviously won’t get the same amount of money as full time students. It saves the Army money and allows them to allocate the proper amount of money once the student registers for classes.

Tuition assistance is requested on a class by class basis. It is unlikely that a student will be denied, but it allows the Army to force the student to pay back the money for the class if a student fails. It provides accountability for the student and makes them study and be ready for all their classes. These forms have to be filled out every year or classes will not be given tuition assistance.

Overall, the Army provides all the money necessary for your classes and as long as you don’t fail, you’ll be in the clear. There may be commitments after college, but it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it.
